BAY AREA RUNNING / Community

Big ideas. Longer runs. Better company.

Bay Area Running is an independent community taking shape around local crews, everyday movement, and 100 first-time marathon finishers.

Why we are here

People building technology deserve time outside the product cycle. We want a local running scene where a researcher can meet a designer, an operator can bring a friend, and a beginner can feel as welcome as a regular racer. The shared activity comes first; professional networking is optional.

Our founding mission

The First 100 aims to help 100 Bay Area tech workers reach their first marathon finish line. The practical starting point is smaller: a nearby crew, a manageable outing, and a reason to come back. A marathon remains a choice, not a condition of belonging.

Where the community stands

This is the founding-stage website. Six crew formats, several event ideas, and the official Golden Gate Bridge Marathon are in planning. No participant count, employer partnership, active coaching service, or confirmed schedule is claimed.

What we want to feel like

Warm, local, and useful. Friendly competition can coexist with walking breaks. Rest does not need an apology. A good run ends with people feeling included, rather than feeling that they need a faster watch time or a better job title.

LESS SCROLL. MORE STRIDE.
