BAY AREA RUNNING / First 100

How the First 100 works

A practical path from finding a local crew to recording a first marathon finish, with a clear definition of what counts.

Start where you are

The campaign is intended for people who have not finished a full marathon before. You can be an experienced shorter-distance runner, a returning runner, or someone starting with walks. There is no minimum pace and no purchase required to explore the pathway.

Choose support, then choose a race

Use the crew directory to find a convenient area and social format. Build a repeatable routine before choosing a marathon-specific plan. When a race becomes realistic, check its official entry rules, cutoff, terrain, cost, and date. Joining our future campaign will not enter you in a race.

How a finish will count

The proposed count is one first full-marathon finish per person, at an organized event of 26.2 miles / 42.195 km. A relay leg, half marathon, training run, or repeat marathon does not add to that count. Before tracking launches, we will publish a consent-based process for confirming a result and correcting mistakes. We will not scrape people’s activity profiles.

What is available today

Read the guides, compare proposed crews, and use the personal fit finder. Enrollment, buddy matching, and finish verification are not operating yet. The public goal is 100; no completion total is currently claimed.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

Will I need to publish my finish time?

No public time requirement is planned. The mission celebrates completion. The final verification and privacy process will be published before enrollment.

Can I choose a race outside the Bay Area?

Yes. A first full-marathon finish at an organized race elsewhere can count under the proposed campaign rules.

LESS SCROLL. MORE STRIDE.
