BAY AREA RUNNING / Events

A finish line that fits you.

Our official marathon is in planning. Explore other independently organized races and compare the details that matter for your first finish.

Our community’s official event

Bay Area Running hosts and officially sponsors the planned Golden Gate Bridge Marathon. The concept is repeated bridge crossings, with solo and relay ideas under development. There is no date or registration yet.

Independent races to research

The San Francisco Marathon, Oakland Marathon, and California International Marathon are separate organizations and events. We link to their official websites as research starting points, not as claims that we host, sponsor, or have reserved entries for them. Dates, prices, and availability should be checked directly.

Compare more than the name

Review terrain, cutoff, participant requirements, travel, entry terms, and the time you have to prepare. A local race can still have complicated morning logistics. A distant race adds travel and accommodation to the commitment.

The campaign follows the runner

The proposed First 100 can recognize a first full-marathon finish at any organized marathon. Choosing another event does not remove you from the community. A relay or shorter-distance finish is worth celebrating but does not count as an individual marathon completion.
